Fellow Indian

September 10th, 2009 by Walmik

After dropping Rig to school, I generally wait at the gate till he disappears. Today we reached quite late, the national anthem had begun. Rig dashed to the entrance and when he climbed the initial steps, he just halted abruptly, waited for the national anthem to finish and then moved on.

Later in the evening I asked him whether it was the national anthem that made him halt or was it some teacher who maybe beckoned him to stop till the anthem was over. Rig said he was on his way up when he noticed another kid who had stopped on the way coz the anthem was going on and that made him stop too.

Water Boy

August 18th, 2008 by Walmik

We all went for a little vacation to Daman last week. Rigved practically lived in the swimming pool. As if that was not enough, for a change he visited the local water park and spend about 4 hours splashing through many water rides! Rigved simply loves water!

The little scientist

January 15th, 2008 by Walmik

Rigved has recently discovered that if you break open a stone, then you ll find something bluish inside it. He came up to me and told me about it and wondered if this can be put up on the internet so that some day the encyclopedias will include this new information in their future editions.

Some days ago, Rigved created a small contraption that was made out of the fan of a toy helicopter. The fan was green and he colored 2 sides yellow and red and left one side just the way it was – green. He keeps this device on the floor and takes the name of somebody he knows or even himself and places a finger near the device and spins it. If the yellow side faces the finger then its going to be a NORMAL day, if red then a BAD day and if green then a GOOD day. The most important thing in this entire exercise is the expression he has on his face. Its just too cure for explanation. Its more like expecting a good day for whomever he is spinning for.

Sleepy Holiday

July 4th, 2007 by Walmik

We leave for school at about 12:30 in the afternoon. At 11:45 today, Rigved was still fast asleep. I was trying to wake him and I tried telling him that we might get late as we have only about 45 minutes to get ready. He turned the other way and sleepily suggested, “Wouldn’t it be better to take a day off instead?”

Yesterday it rained and we didn’t go to school. Later one of the girls from Rigved’s school said the school was shut and a holiday was declared.

Maya

May 30th, 2007 by Walmik

Rigved just came to me and asked me if he could use the other computer. He has this good habit of asking before using something. He sat on the other machine and in about a few minutes he was on a tutorial through Google and he announced, “I am studying Maya!”.

Yard Sale

March 29th, 2007 by Walmik

My dad had gifted Rigved a blackboard sometime back. Rigved used crayons on it and since then it couldn’t be used anymore. It was just nailed to a wall and served no purpose. Today Banda told Rigved to get rid of it as she wanted to put something else in its place. Rigved carried the blackboard outside the house where we keep our trash and placed it neatly with a note above it that read,

“For sale! Price Rs.400″

Big Picture

January 30th, 2006 by Walmik

Rigved is truly impressed by Rob, the artistic host of the program MAD on Pogo TV. Rig had recently learnt how to use many different things, lay it out on the floor and create a ´big´ picture. He created one for me but fell asleep by the time I reached home to see it.
