Kiss and tell

March 17th, 2010 by admin

This blog is now on Slicehost with a static IP address :)

Rigved is down with chicken pox and he is thoroughly enjoying his little enforced vacation. He watches movies, plays games, builds castles and ships, silently orchestrates wars in the afternoons, spreads love in the house with his presence and of course reads like there was no tomorrow. We have to literally tell him sternly to stop reading now!

Day before yesterday we saw a fantastic movie called ‘The Majestic’ starring Jim Carey, one of Rig’s favorite actors. Towards the end of the movie, Rig asked, “Do these actors have to ‘actually’ kiss when they are shooting a kissing scene?”, I said, “Well, Yes…” He replied, “Ah, so an actor’s job also has its drawbacks!”

Color me Blind

December 14th, 2008 by Walmik

Today morning Rigved wondered, “What if we are wrong and the color blind people are right?”

Rigved has been at home for the last 10 days!!! He was down with a cold for 2 of these 10 days in which Banda took a day off and cured him by imparting some of her warmth which burnt the living hell out of the bacteria that had entered Bin Bin’s system. The rest of the days went in just getting back to normal which included, reading, watching movies, playing with friends, building a board game… basically everything except for school and studies. This is the second time he has recovered without any medical help.

All in all 10 days of relaxation and fun have gone by and soon the Christmas vacation will set in and another set of 10 days of relaxation and fun will officially begin!

Enjoyable Sickness

July 10th, 2008 by Walmik

Rigved hasnt been going to school for the last 3 days for no really good reason… I was worried that he might be missing so much studies.. In this worry I went to see what he was up to.. he had cosily curled up on the sofa and he was reading a book called The Art of War, Ancient Chinese War Techniques…. I thought to myself… ah he is missing nothing…

He has created a model of Pingu out of white clay. He plans to color it today.

The reason why he is home is because he is supposedly sick. He has a bit of congestion but he is not really looking weak or coughing or sneezing etc. He plays with his toys, reads his books, laughs out loud, goes outdoor to play in the evenings, watches movies… basically everything except for school. I guess he is sick of school…

Honey is the best medicine

February 20th, 2007 by Walmik

Today we are all at home! I m home because I work from home, Banda is home because she is unwell(and so am I) and Rigved is home because it would be ridiculous to send him out of the house when we are at home! Rigved is visibly more happier in situations like this. I ve realized that when a child is born out of love and not necessarily an arrangement, then the child is more sensitive and caring. Whenever me or Banda are unwell, Rigved transforms into the in-house doctor and appears with his doctor kit to check us up. He did the same today as well. He generally suggests natural cure and avoids any kind of tablets. The most common thing in all his suggestion is ´honey´!

A couple of days ago, I noticed his toy thermometer in one of the buckets in the bathroom. I removed it from there and kept it in Rigved´s doctor kit. Today again it was there and he was removing it from there. I asked him how does it get there. He replied, “I keep it there so that it comes to normal temperature. Saying that he touched it to my neck as I have got a sore throat and took a reading of it!

Ignorant Brutality

July 19th, 2006 by Walmik

Today is the worst day of Rigved, myself and Banda s life.(I am obviously writing this much later than this date)

In a stupid, unnecessary fight between an older boy(12 yrs old) and Rigved(7 yrs old), The other boy twisted Rigveds arm with all might and it severely fractured. The bone had been broken like a twig. The pain was unbearable and he yelled and screamed all the way to the x ray clinic first and then to the hospital. Every pot hole and bump on the road rendered more pain to Rigved. Banda left office to come to the hospital. On the way she went and blasted that boy, his parents, their neighbours and in a way she blasted the whole of the building we live in. The boys parents did not even bother to come to see Rigved let alone apologize on their son s behalf! Banda almost fainted when the doctor told her what has happned to our little baby. I asked her to go home and come back later. Her mom came then to the hospital. Banda went and almost picked up a fight with the other boy s parents. The no good secretary of the building intervened and try to pacify Banda as if nothing had happened. banda insulted him so brutally that he will never be able to face Banda again ever! Back in the hospital I was ok till he was taken to the operation theatre. There was no choice but to be ok. I was not allowed in the operation theatre. I heard yells and cries inside a few more times after which the anaesthesia did what it had to. When he was brought out on a stretcher after about 40 minutes, i saw him unconscious with his entire arm in plaster. His shirt was removed off for the alignment of the bone so that it can remodel itself. I couldnt bear it anymore and i broke down.

The hospital had called the cops as this was not a minor incident and I gave a report saying it was an accident and it happened while the kids were playing! I did that because had i told the cops what had really happened then it would have ruined the other boy s life. Next day i realized that i had done a grave mistake. I should have let the boy s life get ruined as none of the society people nor the boy s parents came over to meet Rigved.

The doctor(Dr. Samir Pilankar) told us that it would take at least 2 months for recovery and a year for complete recovery! The next afternoon we got Rigved home. His hand was completely in a plaster. His left hand. He is left handed.
